Introduction
 
If India is known to exists in villages, India also exits through the major cities. Among the big and the large cities of the world one has to mention the joy city Calcutta, financial capital of India Mumbai and the administrative capital Delhi, cyber city Bangalore and the Cyberabad which is in Hyderabad built we have hundreds of cities like Kanpur, Indore, Madras, Srinagar, Lucknow, Bhopal etc.
 
 

Major Metro Cities:

India has four major metros and many smaller metros. The major metros of the country are Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, and Madras (now Chennai). Other cities of tourist interest include Bangalore, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Thiruvanthapuram, Agra, Jaipur and Pune - to name but a few.


New Delhi:


Delhi, the capital of India, is an amalgam of the old and the new. The ancient and the modern times are in juxtaposition here, not only in the remains of a succession of empires, but equally in present social structure and lifestyles. Qutab Minar, Humayun's tomb, Red fort, Jama Masjid , Mutiny memorial - all stand testimony to an illustrious past. Around Lutyen's Delhi, Diplomatic enclave, Connaught circus, Janpath and the burgeoning modern residential areas form a part of the ever - expanding New Delhi.

 

Mumbai

Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, is the fastest moving, most affluent and industrialised city in India. Mumbai the European name for Mumbai, and still its more accepted name globally came from Portuguese Bom Bahia (Good bay). Mumbai is where India's biggest bulls trade, where money is made and lost with casual felicity, where the world comes to do business. It is also the country's dream factory., the home of both Bollywood star and the mafia don. Gateway of India the principal landmark of Mumbai, was the principal port when the visitors came to India by ship. The gateway was conceived, following the visit of King George V to India in 1911, and was officially opened in 1924.
    

Chennai

One of the largest city in India and the capital of Tamil Nadu, chennai has grown from the merging of number of small villages. Chennai, also known as Madras, the capital of Tamil Nadu, is the country's fourth largest city. Compared to the other major metros of India, it is far less congested and polluted. Chennai was the site of the first settlement of the East India Company.Leather is still the primary industry followed by auto and auto ancilliaries. Madras Harbour, one of the finest in India, and entirely artificial, which has been around for almost a century.
 

Kolkata

Kolkatta isn't an ancient city like Delhi ,with its impressive relics of the past. Infact its largely a British creation that dates back some 300 years. It was the capital of British India until the beginning of last century. It is referred to as India's friendliest metropolis. Calcutta is a vibrant city on the move, volatile and unpredictable. The Gateway to India, till 1912, and the capital of the Raj in India, it still bears the Victorian imprint on its streets and structures. A city just about ready to burst at the seams, Calcutta is home to more than 10 million people. As one enters the city of Calcutta, the impressive Howrah Bridge across the Hooghly river, a huge cantilever structure, supported by two 270 feet high piers, greets the eye. India Museum, Asiatic society, Planetarium, Kali Temple, Botanical Gardens & Victoria memorial is the places of interest in Kolkata.
